
River City Writers
Welcome to the River City Writers Group website. I’m Claudia Oltean, group leader. We are a Jacksonville-area chapter of the Florida Writer’s Association. Our meetings are open to anyone with an interest in writing fiction or non-fiction and to those who are new to writing, have unpublished material, or are indie or traditionally-published authors.
To attend our meetings you do not have to be a member of the Florida Writer’s Association and there is no charge.
We meet on the second Saturday of each month at the Southeast Regional Public Library, 10599 Deerwood Park Blvd. Jacksonville, Fl. 32256. See meeting times below.

2023
—Saturday, December 9 Open Mic Opportunity for participants to read from their work. Room A 1:00-3:00 pm.
2024
—Saturday, January 13 Author Jennifer Swanson will discuss Author Platform and Branding. Room D 10:30-12:30.
—Saturday, February 10 Michael Wiley, author of mysteries and thrillers, and Creative Writing Instructor at the University of North Florida, will discuss his path to being traditionally published. Room B 1:00-2:30.
—Saturday, March 9 Speaker is author Margaret Nicholson PhD will speak about Making Memoirs Meander: It's All In The Structure. Room and Time TBA.
—Saturday, April 13 Author Julie Delegal will discuss her journey to self publish her novel, "Seen" with Darlyn Finch Kuhn and Brad Kuhn. Room and Time TBA
—Saturday, May 11 Authors Armand Rosamilia and Claudia Oltean will discuss their main writing styles. Armand is a "Pantser" and Claudia is a "Plotter". Room and Time TBA
—Saturday, June 8 Speaker is author and FWA Regional Director Vic DiGenti who will present: The Not-So-Secret Life of a Ghostwriter. Room and Time TBA.
—Saturday, July 13 Speaker is Author Sharon Buck. She will discuss "Writing and Marketing the Cozy Mystery." Topic and room TBA.
—Saturday, August 10 Author, Editor, Writing Instructor John Boles will be our speaker. Topic TBA. Room and Time TBA.
—Saturday, September 14 Speaker is Tim Gilmore, a prolific author of fiction and stage plays, as well as a Creative Writing and Literature Instructor at Florida State College. Topic is TBA. Room and Time TBA.
—Saturday, October 12 Speaker is Chris Gabbard who is a Professor at the University of North Florida. He will present "Moments of Humor in a Story about Grief". Room and Time TBA.
—Saturday, November 9 NO MEETING Voting and Holidays.
—Saturday, December 14 Open Mic for attendees to read from their works, works in progress.
2025
