Writers Helping Writers
Welcome to the River City Writers Group website. I’m Claudia Oltean, group leader. We are a Jacksonville-area chapter of the Florida Writer’s Association. Our meetings are open to anyone with an interest in writing fiction or non-fiction and to those who are new to writing, have unpublished material, or are indie or traditionally-published authors.
To attend our meetings you do not have to be a member of the Florida Writer’s Association and there is no charge.
We meet on the second Saturday of each month at the Southeast Regional Public Library, 10599 Deerwood Park Blvd. Jacksonville, Fl. 32256. See meeting times below.

Here’s a rundown on the plans for the next meetings:

—Saturday, April 12 Prolific Author Judith Erwin will generously share her "Marketing Tips," with handouts and discussion. Time 1:00-2:30 pm Room B.
—Saturday, May 10 We are fortunate to have John Boles return to take attendees questions on all aspects of writing, authoring and screenwriting. Room D from 10:30 - 12:30.
—Saturday, June 14 Speaker is Jeff Glauser Topic is "The Hero's Journey." -For marketing and brand purposes. Room and time TBA.
—Saturday, July 12 "Open Mic" Opportunity to read from works or works in progress. Room and time TBA.
—Saturday, August 9 Speaker is Ted Mooney. His topic is "My Writing Journey and Inspiration For My Published Work." Room and Time TBA
—Saturday, September 13 Author/Speaker Jaimie Engle will present "Write a Work that Doesn't Suck!" Room and time TBA.
—Saturday, October 11 Attorney Rod Sullivan will discuss how writers can avoid liability for libel, defamation, invasion of privacy and other causes of action. Time and Room TBA.
—Saturday, November 08 Author Catherine Wu will present "A Journey of a Thousand Miles: How to self publish a Debut Novel." Time and room TBA.
—Saturday, December 13 "Open Mic" Opportunity to read from works or works in progress. Room and time TBA.
